Together, Jim and Joe’s experience in development and hotel management totals over $150 million of completed commercial buildings, including numerous core branded hotels totaling over 700 rooms, with direct operations management at the executive level for a portfolio of hotels totaling over $120 million in annual revenue.

Rhaglan Hospitality was given the honor of being designated as an Approved Full Service Operator by Hilton Hotels Worldwide (Hilton Franchise LLC). Rhaglan’s most current development is The Redmont Hotel Birmingham, Curio Collection by Hilton, which reopened in March 2016. Rhaglan was able to strategically execute on the total rehabilitation and repositioning of the historic, 90-year-old Redmont Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama, to the extent of winning a twenty year franchise agreement with Hilton as a Curio Collection Hotel to be managed by the company.

Rhaglan Hospitality LLC is based in Birmingham, Alabama, and was founded by James W. Lewis, Jr. and Joe White. Rhaglan, a name that originated in Wales, connects us to the historic nature and enduring strength of the Rhaglan Castle, a landmark in the United Kingdom located just south of Birmingham, England -- the 'sister' city to Birmingham, Alabama.

Bringing more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience to the team, Jim Lewis is originally from Tampa, FL by way of Bethesda, MD. Jim earned a B.A. in History and an M.B.A. in Finance from Indiana University. In Tampa, he began renovation and re-positioning projects, which eventually led him to Birmingham and Rhaglan. Previously,  he spent nine years in the commercial real estate finance industry.  At Rhaglan, Jim focuses his efforts on finding and capitalizing new projects. 

Joe White

With over 18 years of hotel, resort and restaurant operating experience, Joe is responsible for the strategic performance and client relations of Rhaglan

White most recently served as Vice President of Operations for Winegardner and Hammons and was responsible for the overall performance of 12 hotels across eight states. He has previous experience in a number of leadership and management capacities with various Marriott, Radisson and Westin hotels. White has gained multiple industry honors for his leadership and managerial skills, namely the AHRA Hotelier of the Year Award (2013) and Marriott International Worldwide Service Excellence Leadership Award (2011).

Patrick Mercier
Senior Vice President of Construction and Product Management

Patrick, who was born and raised in Birmingham, brings 24 years of construction experience and a Building Science degree from Auburn University to the Rhaglan team. He oversees all construction projects, including remodeling and design as well as maintenance.

Callie Melton
Corporate Director of SALES & HOTEL OPERATIONS

Callie got her start in the hotel industry after graduation from LSU. Prior to joining Rhaglan, she gained over 20 years of experience taking on roles such as Sales and Catering Manager at Atlanta Marriot NW, Sales Manager for Renaissance Waverly in Atlanta, and Sales Manager for Birmingham Marriott.  As Director of Sales, Callie sets appropriate sales strategies in all market segments to maximize each project’s revenue.
